From powdered packets available commercially to those served in five-star multi-cuisine restaurants, soup is a delicacy at all levels. Soup is one such treat people can nibble fearlessly when compared to other junks. It gives satisfaction to the palate without affecting the body.
It is just a matter of few inches from the mouth to
the end of the tongue where taste is felt and beyond which everything is bolus
(food mixed with saliva). Many people eat junk food just to satisfy the path
along the tongue forgetting the rest of its journey along with the digestive system.
Foods have also been altered and modified so as to enhance the taste. Accordingly,
we consume them for the satisfaction we get for the time at the stake of its ill-effects
which progresses eventually.
Soup provides rejuvenating taste to the palate and at
the same time helps the digestive system. By choosing the essential ingredients
in optimal quantities and implementing proper cooking techniques, we can get
a rejuvenating taste. Also, patients who are down with fever can relish
themselves with this healthy snack.
When soup enters the stomach the following events
occur:-
1. Any hot substance in general triggers
the breakdown of the fat hence breaking the clusters into small molecules.
2.
The body can metabolize these
molecules faster than normal.
3.
Also, the presence of these fats molecules is sent to the brain which stops sending the chemical signals which induce
hunger for the time being.
This is the mechanism by which soup provides health
benefits to the body. In addition to it, the vegetables and meat added to the
soup provide essential nutrients to the body hence keeping the body fit.
It is generally recommended to take soup half an hour
prior to any meal. The soup fills the stomach and subsequently, the quantity of
food taken reduces significantly. This technique is followed in all of the weight
loss programs established through diet. They insist to take in hot water or
soup prior to every meal to limit the calorie intake.
We can shred pounds of weight through this method without
posing any strict restrictions on diet. However, it takes time to get the results
and it can be boosted when combined with regular exercise.
In order to achieve ultimate health benefits, the following
things have to be considered.
ü
Load in a lot of vegetables. Blanched
vegetables are a good source of vitamins for the body.
ü
Add a lot of greens. Greens are good sources
of iron, protein, and other micronutrients required for the body
ü
Add items like tofu, paneer, green peas and
healthy animal meats. These are some of the best sources of protein for the
body.
Add pepper and other spices to the soup. Pepper has a lot of health benefits. It reduces the body's cholesterol and sugar levels. It can also fight against cancer.
ü
Prepare soups at home. You can look
into the ingredients, preparation, and hygiene up to your standard. Home-made
soups are the best.
· Don’t add cream and cheese to the soup. The unhealthy fats present in them can kill the cause for consuming soup.
Don’t add unhealthy toppings like croutons (fried bread) and fried cornflakes. The oil in them kills the cause and their quality is also not known.
·
Don’t use powdered instant soups regularly. Various
preservatives, flavor enhancers, and acidity regulators added in them cause
health hazards.
To conclude, soup provides benefits to the tongue and
to the body. However, the ingredients, preparation, and hygiene determine its
effect on the body. It is recommended to incorporate soup in our diet in order
to obtain maximum benefits. It is a small step which we can take to keep our
body healthy throughout our life. If followed properly, we can overcome many
health hazards and medications related to it.
